Welcome to Robin Class Page
Summer Term 2020 Covid-19 update – Home learning
Parents, carers and guardians this is just to update you on the position regarding your child’s continued learning. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and school closures since March 2020, all home learning will be posted via the school’s Class Dojo portal.
In order to access your child’s home learning, your child will need to log in to Robin class’s Class Dojo page as themselves (using their unique code which was sent through when school closed). From here, you, and they, will be able to access Robin class’s class story and portfolios accordingly. This is where all home learning will be published.
I will add a range of learning activities, tasks and challenges, suitable for Reception and Year 1 children, to Robin class’s Class Dojo Portfolio. Each week, there will be a reading activity with 1 or more topic tasks, activities and/or challenges. On a daily basis, pupils will also be provided with writing and maths tasks, activities and challenges.
Remember though, the priority is you and your families stay safe so completion of these is voluntary.
To submit responses and evidence of completion of home learning, please support your child to use the following method:
- After logging in to Class Dojo (as a pupil, using the unique log in code provided).
- After clicking on Robin class.
- Click ‘create new’ or click on a specific portfolio item.
- At this point, you are able to upload photos, videos, recordings or typed responses.
I will provide feedback and acknowledgement to each upload to their portfolios.
Remember you can share all learning or activities your child has been up to during the Covid-19 lockdown, whether it is linked to a specific task or not. Any photos, videos or messages can all be uploaded to their portfolio 😊!
Robin class is a mixed Reception/ Year 1 Class of 13. Our class teacher is called Mr Pickford and our teaching assistant is Miss Jones, who is with us from 8.30 - 3.15 every day.
Forest schools happens every week on a Monday. The children will be outside all day, so please make sure they are sent in with their waterproofs every Monday. We will be posting updates on our class’s Class Dojo story page, so please check there for pictures and news from our days in forest schools. The children will get the chance to build structures, explore nature, cook many different creations and so much more!
If an empty carrier bag could be sent in with your children on a Monday that would be excellent! This means we can send any muddy clothes home easily. Many thanks.
We do have a Forest school’s wish list, so if you, or anyone you know, is getting rid of any used wooden furniture, we would love to have this for our forest school area!
P.E. will take place on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has a labelled P.E. kit in school, which includes a jumper and jogging bottoms for outdoors (these are also very useful spare clothes to have in school). Girls wearing tights will need extra socks during the winter.
Please provide fresh drinking water for your child daily as we prefer pupils to only have water in the classroom. This must be in a named bottle.
We are always working on improving our outdoor learning environment and have a ‘wish list’ accordingly. We are looking for donations of the following items, so if you or anyone you know, have but no longer require any of these items, please let us know:
- Large (clean) paint brushes
- Metal spoons and ladles of any size
- Small wood or metal bowls
- Logs that can be used as seats
Effective home school relationships are key to both your child’s success and progress so please do keep in touch. I too, will keep in regular communication with yourselves at home.
Please get in touch should you have any queries. You can contact me via Class Dojo messaging or on the email below and I will respond as soon as I am able to do so.
