Welcome to Kite Class
Summer Term 2020 Covid-19 update – Home learning
Parents, carers and guardians this is just to update you on the position regarding your child’s continued learning. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and school closures since March 2020, all home learning will be posted via the school’s Class Dojo portal.
In order to access your child’s home learning, your child will need to log in to Kite class’s Class Dojo page as themselves (using their unique code which was sent through when school closed). From here, you, and they, will be able to access Kite class’s class story and portfolios accordingly. This is where all home learning will be published.
I will add a range of learning activities, tasks and challenges, suitable for Year 5 and Year 6 children, to Kite class’s Class Dojo Portfolio. Each week, there will be a reading activity with 1 or more topic tasks, activities and/or challenges. On a daily basis, pupils will also be provided with writing and maths tasks, activities and challenges.
Remember though, the priority is you and your families stay safe so completion of these is voluntary.
To submit responses and evidence of completion of home learning, please support your child to use the following method:
- After logging in to Class Dojo (as a pupil, using the unique log in code provided).
- After clicking on Kite class.
- Click ‘create new’ or click on a specific portfolio item.
- At this point, you are able to upload photos, videos, recordings or typed responses.
I will provide feedback and acknowledgement to each upload to their portfolios.
Remember you can share all learning or activities your child has been up to during the Covid-19 lockdown, whether it is linked to a specific task or not. Any photos, videos or messages can all be uploaded to their portfolio 😊!
Kite class, a mixed Year 5 and 6 class comprising 20 children, has Mrs Sneyd as the class teacher, and Mrs Bourdeau, who works 9 am – 12 noon each day, as the class teaching assistant.
This will continue to be via the CGP books with supplementary practise using Education City. Both year groups will be expected to complete the relevant sections each week. Pupils should review it prior to a ‘homework’ briefing on a Friday morning. On a Friday, if the children have any areas to discuss, we will go through the week’s homework to discuss approaches and areas of uncertainty.
Please ask the children to come and see me should they have any concerns or queries with their homework that need my attention sooner….
In addition, pupils will be given spellings each week. They will be grouped for each half term and all will have copies of their own weekly spellings for the whole half term.
Thank you in anticipation of your support in helping your children with their homework. It is important pupils have their homework (CGP) books in school each day so that I can liaise with them at any time.
PE, which will comprise trampolining at THOA, will be on a Thursday afternoon. Transport will be provided by THOA and through staff cars, if needed. A full and named PE kit is required to be in school every day so that should a change in the timetable occur, the children are prepared.
All the children need a named water bottle, in school, which is filled with fresh water on a daily basis and a named waterproof coat, ideally with a hood, so that children can go out to play whatever the weather!
Effective home school relationships are key to both your child’s success and progress so please do keep in touch. I too, will keep in regular communication with yourselves at home.
Please get in touch should you have any queries. You can contact me via Class Dojo messaging or on the email below and I will respond as soon as I am able to do so.
