Welcome to Kingfisher Class
Summer Term 2020 Covid-19 update – Home learning
Parents, carers and guardians this is just to update you on the position regarding your child’s continued learning. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and school closures since March 2020, all home learning will be posted via the school’s Class Dojo portal.
In order to access your child’s home learning, your child will need to log in to Kingfisher class’s Class Dojo page as themselves (using their unique code which was sent through when school closed). From here, you, and they, will be able to access Kingfisher class’s class story and portfolios accordingly. This is where all home learning will be published.
I will add a range of learning activities, tasks and challenges, suitable for Year 3 and Year 4 children, to Kingfisher class’s Class Dojo Portfolio. Each week, there will be a reading activity with 1 or more topic tasks, activities and/or challenges. On a daily basis, pupils will also be provided with writing and maths tasks, activities and challenges.
Remember though, the priority is you and your families stay safe so completion of these is voluntary.
To submit responses and evidence of completion of home learning, please support your child to use the following method:
- After logging in to Class Dojo (as a pupil, using the unique log in code provided).
- After clicking on Kingfisher class.
- Click ‘create new’ or click on a specific portfolio item.
- At this point, you are able to upload photos, videos, recordings or typed responses.
I will provide feedback and acknowledgement to each upload to their portfolios.
Remember you can share all learning or activities your child has been up to during the Covid-19 lockdown, whether it is linked to a specific task or not. Any photos, videos or messages can all be uploaded to their portfolio 😊!
Kingfisher class is a mixed Year 3 and 4 class, with 22 children in total. Ms Oakes is the class teacher and Mrs Jackson is the class teaching assistant.
Homework will aim to be given out on a Thursday and will expected to be handed in on the following Wednesday morning. Spelling tests will be on a Friday morning and Froggy Maths will be undertaken on a Thursday.
For this term, PE will be outdoors focusing on Hockey. A full named PE kit is required to be in school every day and appropriate for the weather and activity.
All the children need a named water bottle, in school, which is filled with fresh water on a daily basis and a named waterproof coat, ideally with a hood, so that children can go out to play whatever the weather!
Effective home school relationships are key to both your child’s success and progress so please do keep in touch. I too, will keep in regular communication with yourselves at home.
Please get in touch should you have any queries. You can contact me via Class Dojo messaging or on the email below and I will respond as soon as I am able to do so.
