On our school site we have an independent Pre-school, which was founded in 1993 and rated Good by OFSTED at their last inspection.
As a school, we have a good working relationship with the Pre-school, working closely together to aid a smooth transition from Pre-school to the Reception class within Lindridge Primary School. There is a strong focus on sharing good practice, teaching methods and expertise to ensure that children who move from Lindridge Pre-school to Lindridge Primary School can start their school life with us already familiar with things such as basics of phonics, enabling them to have the best start possible.
During their final term at Pre-school, children attend our Reception class on a weekly basis, and eat lunch with our current pupils in the school hall, to enable them sufficient time to grow comfortable with their new environment. Pre-school children are also regularly invited to attend events at our school such as our summer fete or nativity performances and to join in with celebrations such as Harvest Festival. This not only allows the children to become used to the school, but really helps them to feel part of our school community before they officially begin their time with us.
As a school, we strongly believe that our strong working relationship with the Pre-school and the robust programme of transition, provide children joining us with the best possible start to their journey at Lindridge School.
